Finding discount luggage sets isn’t all that difficult, but be warned, there is a great deal of low quality luggage on the market today. This doesn’t mean you can’t get a great deal on discounted luggage sets, it just means you have to be more cautious when you are buying (anything for that matter).

The first thing you need to do is evaluate how often you travel, and how many luggage pieces you really need. Many luggage sets come with extra bags and cases that you may never end up using. So be sure to decide exactly what pieces really need and which ones you can do without.

Now the key to getting discounted luggage sets is the time of year you buy them. The best time is almost always in the Spring, as most manufacturers are bringing out their new lines. You can find some really hot deals as early as March and well into June at your local department stores and other luggage retailers.

I personally buy most of my name brand luggage at outlet malls. The best deals are always on their closeout luggage, especially if it is 2 years or older. You will almost always find this luggage at the back of the store, as the retailer tries to move newer merchandise by featuring it at the front. Many times you can get 50% or more off the original price if you are patient.

I have often found that if you go to flea markets and yard sales in affluent neighborhoods, you can find designer luggage at some ridiculous prices. People laugh when I tell them this, but when you think about it, it makes too much sense. Many wealthy people travel frequently and get bored with their old luggage – so they then sell it for almost nothing at these local yard sales. If you don’t believe me, check it out for yourself!
