Leather book bags
Leather book bags are probably one of the most durable backpacks you will find. I know how much I love to stuff my backpack, and it really takes a lot of abuse. Which is why you want to buy the best leather you can afford. You will want to look for top grain leather, which is extremely hard to tear and can really hold heavy loads. Suede leather and bonded leather aren’t going to hold up quite as well, but they will come at a cheaper price.
I have compiled a list of several leather book bags ranging from a top of the line leather, to more affordable ones. This will help to give you a good idea of what is on the market and what will be within your price range:
Round Top Zipper Backpack (Joseph Daniel) – this backpack is made from cashmere leather and it is of extremely high quality. This will run you about $200, which isn’t bad. If you want to get into true designer leather bookbags, you will be spending several hundred dollars.
Leather Sling Backpack (Paul & Taylor) – this is made from cowhide leather, and isn’t quite a s high quality as the one above. However, this one should hold up extremely well to a good amount of abuse. It generally retails for about $90 in most department stores.
Ladies’ Leather Backpack (Amerileather) – this is a lower quality bookbag, and it is reflected in the $40 price tag. However, it did get mixed reviews, with some consumers who really loved it, and others who were greatly disappointed.
What you buy will obviously depend on your budget, but keep in mind that cheaper leather, especially the synthetic kind, can tear quite easily. So if you are going to be filling this backpack with heavy books and other materials, you may want to invest a little extra money into it.
