Polycarbonate luggage has burst onto the scene in the last several years like no innovation I have seen before in this industry. While lightweight polycarbonate luggage has been around for awhile, it has only recently become popular in the US. This luggage is extremely light, but very durable. These suitcases combine the best of both worlds, which is why they are in such demand, but expensive as well.

Not all polycarbonate luggage is created equally, however. Some companies use less expensive material, which does lower the cost, but the quality isn’t going to be the same as a top end Zero Halliburton for instance. Three of the biggest manufacturers of this luggage are:

Zero Halliburton luggage – is famous for making aluminum cases and many of their products have appeared in movies. Their line of polycarbonate luggage range in price for $200-$1000. Their newest line, the Z-flex is more reasonably priced than their older models.

Samsonite PixelCube – this line of Samsonite hardside luggage starts around $279 for their 20 inch upright. The various sizes increase in price with the 30 inch upright retailing for about $100 more. This line is extremely durable, lightweight and quite colorful.

Titan – their X2 line comes in various sizes and colors, and range in price form $200 on up. These suitcases are known as much for their durability as their funky colors. But make no mistake, you would probably have to run over them with a truck to break one.
